The Shelby YMCA offers dance for boys and girls grades Pre-K through High School. Classes include Ballet, Contemporary, Tap, and Jazz for new, intermediate, and advanced dancers! This long-running program has been a community favorite for years.
Develop strength, flexibility, power, agility, coordination, grace, and control! For ages 2-18 years. The Shelby YMCA gymnastics and tumbling programs embrace the Y's mission by creating a safe and nurturing environment for kids to become strong, confident gymnasts who are also responsible, respectful, and caring teammates.
Learn the basic stances, punches, kicks, blocks, and the study of more advanced martial and self-defense techniques - while improving strength, coordination, flexibility, character, and confidence. This is a traditional karate class and emphasis is also placed on honesty, respect and discipline. This year-round program is for ages 7 and up.
The Storm Cheer program is designed to encourage young girls to overcome fears, work together, and challenge themselves. While working as a team, girls will perform at local sports games and also participate in special events. The program includes two teams Lightning, ages 4-7, and Hurricane, ages 8-12.
Is your child already a swimmer? Go to the next level! The Shelby YMCA swim team is open to all ages under 18. Swimmers must be a member of the Shelby YMCA.
By stressing the importance of teamwork and teaching the Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility our youth sports leagues teach kids how to be good sports and good citizens. Through sports like soccer, t-ball, flag football, and basketball, the Y fosters a supportive and dynamic environment for kids to learn and develop athletic skills.
The YMCA swim lessons program accomplishes teaching youth, teens, and adults to swim, so they can stay safe around water and learn the skills they need to make swimming enjoyable. All ages - from infant to senior - can learn to swim!
Enjoy a night out and send your children to the Y for a night of fun and games. Let them run wild and enjoy activities such as; gym games, swimming, music, snacks, and more! The fun lasts for three hours, plenty of time to let them get out all that energy.
