In 2019, the Shelby YMCA collaborated with local community partner, The Shelby Foundation, to establish an endowment fund to secure its financial future.  An endowment holds the principal from donations for investment purposes and distributes a percentage of the income generated each year.  This will provide a financial bedrock for the YMCA by ensuring fund growth while creating a steady stream of income for operations and programs.

For years the Shelby YMCA has strengthened community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  Our cause can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, health, and neighbors.  The Shelby Foundation has the investment power to provide financial security to this much-needed organization.  This is a perfect example of community resources coming together to do more than either could on their own.

Individuals who understand the importance of planning and make a donation to the endowment fund are invited to join the Shelby YMCA Heritage Club.  This group of forward-thinking donors will positively influence the future impact of the YMCA through monetary security.

Donations to the Shelby YMCA Endowment can be sent to The Shelby Foundation.

At the Shelby YMCA we can't do it alone, help us by donating vital financial resources for nurturing the potential of kids, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and supporting our neighbors.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, strengthening communities is our cause. At the Y, we believe that lasting personal and social change happens when we all work together. Each day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to be healthy, confident, and secure.

Every day, the Y supports kids, adults, seniors, and families with programs that protect, teach, connect, heal, nourish, and encourage. Everything we do helps empower our community.

Your Support Helps the Y Deliver on Our Commitment

To nurture the potential of youth through building confidence at camp, academic enrichment in safe afterschool programs, or foundational skills and values in our child care programs

To improve the nation’s health and well-being through combating obesity and chronic disease by providing the support and resources people need to make positive change

To give back and support our neighbors by empowering people with the resources to improve their lives and connect and contribute to the community, such as with job training, housing, newcomer services and opportunities to advocate for social change

To offer programs and services to children, adults and families who need financial assistance.

"The Y gives me something positive to do. Before I go to work, I try to come to the Y because it gives me so much energy, and when I leave, I feel motivated to do the next step. When I workout at the Y it makes me feel confident about my body. And my kids like coming. They love seeing their friends, playing basketball, and doing gymnastics. I am so thankful for the scholarship program. I wouldn't be able to pay full price, but because I have the opportunity to come, I try to come as much as I possibly can."

There is no other nonprofit quite like the Y. Be a part of a cause committed to moving people and communities forward.

As the leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors every day to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.  To do our important work, the Y relies on support from members, donors, volunteers and community leaders.

When you are involved with the Y, you help bring about lasting personal and social change.  Whether you want to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve your or your family’s health and well-being, or give back and support your neighbors, your involvement with the Y will positively impact those in your community.

Take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in your own neighborhood. Across the United States, more than 500,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods nationwide we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive, personal and social change.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.
