COVID-19 Resources and Updates
A Message to Our Members
March 16, 2020
Dear Shelby YMCA Friends and Family,
As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, our commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility will not waiver. Each Y is working closely with local, state, and federal authorities, as well as with one another to respond to the unique needs of communities.
Per Governor DeWine’s order to close fitness facilities, the Shelby YMCA will be closed beginning today, March 16, 2020, at 8:30p.m. until further notice.
Being a relationship organization, this makes me very sad. We bring people together – large numbers of them, from all backgrounds and circumstances – and create personal connections. But the nature of this virus, and how it spreads, presents significant challenges to how we deliver our mission and strengthen community. I am so sorry for all the personal hardships and inconveniences during this trying time. But we are at the front of this fight and will continue to work with all to help stop the spread of this pandemic. We ask for your patience and continued support as we stand united in service during this unprecedented time.
Monthly membership dues will be put on hold for this month’s draft. Annual membership dues will be extended. However, for those that feel able, we encourage you to donate your dues to help us meet the needs of the community in creative ways. Contributions can be made online at
